Especially for Ancient Greeks, in whose language the very word came into being (“σπείρα” - spira), this vertical winding representation was above all a symbol of life force, a dynamic movement, symbolizing time, growth, continuity, the rhythm of breathing.
When used as a personal talisman it is believed that the spiral pattern subconsciously helps our mind to accept change, and in essence the very evolution of life itself.
