Spiral comes from the Ancient Greek word “σπειρα”

“The spiral is one of the oldest symbols encountered in many civilizations across the globe.  Especially for ancient Greeks, in whose language the very word came into being («σπειρα»), the vertical winding representation was above all a symbol of the life force.

As such it can be found everywhere in Nature, from ancient shellfish, to galaxies formation.. It is believed that the spiral pattern, subconsciously helps our mind to accept the twists and turns and in essence the very evolution of Life itself. “
